So! Unrelated to any comicthings, I wanted to mention CeCe McDonald. It’s possible you heard about her case – in which she approached a group of people who were hurling racist, anti-gay and anti-trans slurs at her and her friends, and was attacked with a broken glass, puncturing her cheek. In the ensuing fight, one of the harassers was fatally stabbed. CeCe was the only person arrested. The petition to drop the charges against her has more details, and there were two great pieces published this week – one by Heidi Barton Stink on Original Plumbing, and an interview with CeCe on Pretty Queer. You should read them both – for me they really hit home that this is a really real person who has been really horribly mistreated and has all the cards stacked against her. Then sign the petition, which as of now still needs over a thousand to reach its goal. Spread the word!
Thanks for reading!

Charlie and Wren sit on the floor eating pizza.
WREN: So, how are your parents dealing? I mean... if you talked to them.
CHARLIE: Yeah. They’re... like always. They don’t get it at all and they want to throw me a pride parade anyway.
CHARLIE: I love them, but I’m glad Maria has room for my air matress.
WREN: Charlie... why didn’t you ask to stay with me? You could have.
CHARLIE: Well, you’re in the dorm. It’s not as easy. And things are still... y’know. With us.
CHARLIE: Wren. Is there an us?
Wren inset looking thoughtful.
WREN: This is so hard, because, I still care about you. So much. But it feels like you went through this big change, and I don’t - you know, besides the fact that I don’t think I like guys, even if the guy is you. It’s bigger than that - I don’t know what you’re going through and where you’re at, and I don’t want to insert myself back into your life in that way. Because I don’t think I’m the person you need.
CHARLIE: Oh.
CHARLIE: Well, that’s sort of a huge relief.
WREN: I’m really sorry if -
WREN: Wait, what?
