I’m not saying I’ve ever done this, or that I think everyone should do this, but actually both of those things are true. Do this.
If you don’t know your local shelter or service for dating/domestic abuse, you should look it up, in case you or someone you know ever needs that information. Or, you can refer loved ones/potential Twilight readers to www.rainn.org, and their free 24-hour hotline, 1.800.656.HOPE.
SAM removes a book from the shelf and puts something in it.
EVE: Sam, uh... what are you doing to the books?
SAM: Oh, I've been putting these cards from the local abuse shelter in every copy of the Twilight series in town.
I just found your site and started with the archives. I’m enjoying everything, but this is the one that had me slapping my forehead and saying, “Why didn’t I think of that?”
I’m a librarian, I am rabidly anti-censorship, but this series . . . tests me . . .
I only discovered your comic today, but with this entry, you just made my day. heh I used to work in a Borders and am a writer myself. I cannot stress how poorly written and unhealthy the Twilight series is. It’s frightening that Meyer obviously had no idea how unhealthy the relationships were, or what a Mary Sue she is. 😛
